The single "Show Me" sold over 20,000 twelve-inch copies within the first month that it was released and went on to become gold, selling over 500,000 copies. The song became an anthem within the freestyle community and reached the #2 spot on Billboards Dance Chart, was a top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and became the #1 record in Japan in 1988, while the album went double platinum. The debut album gained five Hot 100 singles, which also included the pop track “Spring Love” and the ballad “Promise Me”. The Cover Girls were on their way as they reached universal appeal and became one of the most popular acts in freestyle music history.
The Cover Girls toured many countries including Japan, Germany, London as well as the U.S. In Japan, the Cover Girls participated in the International Tokyo Music Festival Competition, which featured participants from all over the world. The Cover Girls won second place and their popularity grew even more.
The Cover Girls signed on to Capitol Records and released their second album entitled “We Can't Go Wrong” in 1989. This album, like the first album, became an instant classic. The follow up album contained the freestyle classic “My Heart Skips A Beat” which also landed on the Top 40.
The title track pop ballad, “We Can't Go Wrong” reached #5 on Billboards Hot 100 Singles chart and sold over 500,000 copies. Other singles included the pop flavored track, “All that Glitters isn't Gold”.
